Task 6

Design For Life
Product packaging is extremely important to the modern day community. With international communication and paperless routes packaging is on a fence. One side is useless garbage and the other is art. Since art cannot truly be defined, packaging and the value of, is circumstantial. Good packaging is specialized with in the luxury industry. From Christian Louboutin to fine chocolate higher marked goods make a profit off of packaging. The question is wether it still in the long run become garbage. Garbage being the Carbon Footprint you leave behind. Packaging designers are the front runner in designing the world into leaving creating something sustainable. "Filtainer is the latest filter for the KAF (the Kantian Arsenic Filter), a household drinking water treatment device used in developing countries. It removes arsenic, pathogens, iron, turbidity, odour, and contaminants from drinking water. All of these unfavourable substances, in particular arsenic, commonly exist in the ground-water of many countries. Filtainer was developed with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and ENPHO. It is user-friendly for a population that is poor and little or no education. All parts can be produced locally in developing countries via simple and low cost methods; all filtration substances can be found locally. Important design breakthroughs ensure safe and efficient water filtering, including clog-free performance by the patented Clogfree Flow Regulator." D&AD AWARD WINNER

In asheville and smaller hippy communities they specifically focus on using recycled or recyclable material. At a chocolate shop they specifically use all organic food and sell environmentally conscious products.
